When the world came to a standstill during the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself staring at a blank canvas with a brush in hand. I wasn’t a painter by any means; in fact, my first attempts were rough, filled with imperfect lines and mismatched colors. But there was something liberating about it—the freedom to create without rules, to let my mind wander and my brush follow.

Day after day, I painted whatever my mind craved. Abstract shapes, vivid splashes of color, and chaotic yet mesmerizing patterns began to fill my tiny apartment. It wasn’t about perfection; it was about expression. Over time, something extraordinary happened. The messy, experimental canvases started to evolve. With every stroke, I discovered a rhythm, a style uniquely my own.

As I shared my work on social media, people began to notice. They saw the raw emotion behind each piece, the way the colors seemed to tell a story. Before I knew it, my work caught the attention of a local gallery in Montreal, Quebec. My first exhibition was surreal. Seeing my once-hesitant strokes framed and admired under gallery lights felt like a dream. But it didn’t stop there.

One evening, the owner of Bombay Mahal, a beloved Indian restaurant in Montreal, walked into the gallery. Captivated by the vibrancy and warmth of my paintings, he envisioned them hanging on the walls of his restaurant. By the end of the night, several of my pieces had found a new home where diners could marvel at them over plates of butter chicken and naan.

Despite this success, I never forgot my roots. I know what it feels like to start with nothing but a desire to create. That’s why I built TheKolours with a dream: to make selling art accessible to everyone, even if you’re not a proficient artist. I believe art is for anyone with a story to tell, a feeling to express, or simply a love for colors.

Through workshops, community events, and an online platform where artists of all levels can showcase and sell their work, TheKolours is more than just a brand—it’s a movement. It stands as a testament that greatness doesn’t require perfection, just the courage to keep painting.
